Internet drops out for several minutes......

Hello,
Running Win2000, home computer, no router. I subscribe to Bresnan cable internet and am having problems with the internet connection ceasing for several minutes and then coming back. I use a Motorola Surboard SB5100 cable modem. The online light on the modem flashes on and off when the internet feed stops.. this light and the send and receive lights then go dark. The internet will be down for a few minutes and then comes back on and all lights come on. I do not do anything when the internet goes down, it simply comes back on its own. Bresnan says there is nothing wrong with their feed and they have been no help to me. I suspect some TCP/IP setting may have been changed. I have scanned extensively for spyware and eliminated all potential culprits. Is there a way to reset my internet protocol settings? Any advice appreciated.

Download WinsockFix and unzip it. Then double-click on it to run it.

If that doesn't help.........

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. Open up the result.txt file created. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Thanks for the response. I have spoken to Bresnan again and they believe the problem was in one of my advanced settings for TCP/IP protocol (use Netbios setting from the DHCP server). I have made this correction and am hoping this works - has not been long enough yet to be sure. Will let you know if this works. Thanks again!

Ok, Bresnan's fix did not work. I cannot get Highjack This Analyzer to work, but here is the Highjack This log:

Bresnan has suggested I pick up one of their new online activation disks and try to reinstall/reactivate my cable internet. I will do so but the nearest office is an hour away so it will be awhile and I'm not sure this will help. Please let me know if you see anything strange in my highjack log. Thanks again!
