Does the modem have a reset button? Try it and logout/login to windows.

Perhaps you should run through the "Internet connection wizard" maybe even uninstall/reinstall your connection. If this doesn't help, you might try calling for support from your ISP. They should do a "walk-thru" of your settings with you.

What type of modem do you have from Verizon DSL and have you tried an Ipconfig test?

I had this same problem,
My connection eventualy dropped and i could not connect at all. Turns out I had done somthing that wiped my user name and password from the modem so it could not correctly log onto the dsl network. Of course it seemed my modem was also bad so i had it replaced.. all was good for about 3 hours before getting all slow agian ( like 10 times slower than dial up)

eventualy i discovered i had installed a bad ram chip. I removed it and my connection was back to normal... however i am now dealing with windows xp giving me memory dumps from time to time (annoying since i still have 512 ddr ram ).

Basicly if you have installed or upgraded anything recently it might be conflicting... to me the ram thing made no sense... but hey it worked so i dont care
