Linksys WRT54GL web access problem
have a Linksys WRT54GL connected to a PPoE wireless broadband connection. I have a desktop and 2 laptops connected by wireless to the router. All was working well - then something changed but I cannot work out what.
The problem is I can access some web sites not others. For example we can always get Google, but often cannot get the sites that Google search results point to, also cannot get our email site actrix.co.nz. Also I was using cisco vpn client to remote into my desktop at work - and that has stopped working - I press connect and nothing happens. I know it must be a router problem - because when I ditch the router and connect the desktop straight to the wireless internet connection it all works fine. I have tried resetting and rebooting etc the router. I am not using any encryption (nearest neighbour about 1 km away!). I have tried changing the MTU settings (defaults to 1492). I have spent hours on the internet trying to find advice about what to do - I would really appreciate some help |

Re: Linksys WRT54GL web access problem
Did you try resetting the router to factory defaults and then reconfiguring? A simple reset isn't sufficient.

Re: Linksys WRT54GL web access problem
Sorry about multiple posts
I thought my first title was not good and not getting read - tried to delete the first post - but maybe I can't delete my posts? I did reset to factory defaults. I also tried pushing the reset button for 30 secs and turning off power which I saw advised in some forum. So I am operating on factory defaults. All I changed was that the connection is PPoE and add my username and password for my wireless broadband provider. I also tried turning off the broadband providers wireless gear power supply (to reset that) - but that should not be the problem - because it works when I plug straight in and don't use the router. Also I tried different MTU settings - but ended up leaving it how it was because this did not seem to make any difference. I don't know what other configuration I should do. The desktop and one laptop connect to the router with Asus wireless devices (one card and one USB). The newer Dell laptop connects with the wireless device it has already fitted. When I first got the system working it was also just working on these factory defaults. |
