Actually, your wireless card, which I believe you have the wrong model number for, is an 802.11 network card, and it has nothing to do with cellular communication. You need a wireless router on your network to use this to connect to the Internet.

Re: wifi-TRENDNET>TEW-431PC WIRELESS LAN NEED HELP!

Hello JohnWill, I jisted the model number on the card itself. I see where it says Ieee 802.11g Compliant and Dsss @2,4 GHz ISM band.
Thank you for that info, I was looking at the hardware manager and see where it was listed the 802.11 and After you had talk about a router. I went down to a local store where some one had said that in order to use the wireless, you needed a router to communicate to the net.
I am a bit confused thou & maybe you can explain.
Lets said I have my computer with wireless card at home, OkI would set my router some where in my house. I take it That the router is some how connected to the net thou the phone line??? or what? How is it connected to the net?
Now let say, I need to move my computer to a semi truck I drive all over the country, which I do not But the one using this computer does and needs to use this computer to communicate Thur the net, how would this work, (note this computer has no on board modem). Would he/she have to carry his router with him or what???
Last question How can I set up this thing to test and prove thing things is working. really need you help JohnWill or any one else Please?? Many Blessings to you and all on the forum.

Re: wifi-TRENDNET>TEW-431PC WIRELESS LAN NEED HELP!

To use a wireless router in your home you need to have an internet connection. This is usually via phone line(ADSL) or cable. If you already have internet then you will already have a modem. If not, you can buy an all in one unit, which includes modem/wireless router.

This type of connection requires you to be within close proximity of the router, and the router must be directly connected to a phone line or cable internet connection.

If you want to have wireless internet on the go you will need to setup a wireless broadband internet connection with an ISP, and purchase a wireless modem. This type of connection usually plugs into a usb port in your laptop and can connect from almost anywhere.

Hope this is at least some help.
