[SOLVED] Problems with Comcast internet

I just had Comcast set up my cable Internet. When I go to access the I Internet I keep getting the Comcast Internet set up screen where I accept their user agreement and after I accept I get an error message saying either the divice not actvated or "error 601" with a mention of GNS (I think that's right). After being on the phone with Comcast for about an hour they determined that it must be something wrong with the computer and said contact Dell to fix the problem. But I also get the same error message when I connect the cable modem to my wireless router and try to access the Internet using the wifi on my iPhone which leads me to believe that it actually Comcast's error. I don't want to spend time and money on what couldn't be a computer problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Someone suggested that there might be a delay in comcast's systems allowing the cable modem access to the Internet.

Re: Problems with Comcast internet

What is the make/model of the modem you're using?

Have you considered getting a friend with a laptop to connect and test? A Comcast account should connect using a wired connection directly using the default network settings of Windows.

Re: Problems with Comcast internet

Thanks for the advice and I did get a friend to do that too and it got the same message.

I called comcast again and the guy had to go back and do a reactivation of the modem and internet account and I is working now.
