Dial Up/Internet Troubles
Well, I have been having some issues with a dial up connection. Everything was working fine one day and the next Firefox would stop loading pages, and state "No address found." So I thought it was firefox then other internet required apps wouldn't want to connect to the internet now. If anyone knows how to resolve this problems I am all ears.

Re: Dial Up/Internet Troubles
Hi! :)
You have not given enough information for anyone to even BEGIN to ascertain what the problem may be... What error messages are you getting from your Dial-Up Networking? Screenshots would be even better! Are you sure the modem is actually dialing (can you hear it)? Did it rain right before you started having these problems? Do you have a phone-line surge protector? If you open up HyperTerminal and connect directly to the modem, does it recognize AT commands? Et cetera. The more information you can give, the easier it will be for someone to help you with your issue. Many thanks! :) |

Re: Dial Up/Internet Troubles
If you are running Zone Alarm as a firewall, a recent Windows security update (951478) was causing an incompatibility. Preventing you from connecting to the Internet no matter what browser you may be using.
Temporary "fix". Set your Zone Alarm Firewall from High to Medium...this will allow you to connect. Then download the new Zone Alarm update which has the patch to correct this (came out the day after). Run it and it will ask to let it reboot for the final installation. After doing this, no problems. Went through this myself. The Windows security patch plugs a serious but long known DNS leak. |
