Problem with Internet. Thinking throttling by ISP.
I have this problem with my wireless router/cable modem.
I use windows vista now but this also happened on my previous installation of xp. I use cox high-speed internet. and have a Belkin F5D7231-4 router. The set-up is like this: cox cable modem ---> wifi Router --> computer I noticed it happens whenever I use the internet for high-bandwidth activity like file-sharing or constant youtubing, but in my opinion it happens randomly most of the time. While I remain connected to my wireless network, the internet seems to die and the connection states that it is "local only". Normally this problem has to be solved by running upstairs to the cable modem and unplugging/replugging it. Then disconnecting/re-connecting to the network. Sometimes this fails however. I've googled "internet randomly stops working cox" and it seems that i'm not the only one having this type of problem. Could it be that Cox is deliberately throttling the internet when users exceed certain bandwidth caps? Our family is constantly online. |

Re: Problem with Internet. Thinking throttling by ISP.
Well, if you keep up with the news, you must know about Comcast and blocking P2P activity. Perhaps Cox is doing the same thing.
