Very sorry for necro-ing, but this is my exact problem and I've tried basically everything. The previous post suggests that it may be a firewall issue; however, I have disbled my firewall, rebooted, and the problem persists. I've also tried software to fix a corrupted WinSock, as suggested on a different forum... not sure what that means, but I ran the software and still had the problem. I also have no connection to AV update services and the like, or torrent programs. I ran in safe mode, and IE and Firefox worked beautifully.Any new suggestions?

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.
