Internet is 'stuttering'

Firstly, I didn't quite know which forum to put this is as I'm not too wise on computers, so apologies for that.

My internet can only 'connect' to websites/servers perhaps 2 out of 10 seconds. I can play a game smoothly with no lag or disconnects, but logging in can take several tries before I fall in a 'hole' where it works.
Now that's not too bad, as once I'm on I can play, what's really annoying is that browsing anything on the net takes ages. Each page takes between 5 and 10 attempts to load, so just checking mail can take more than 10 minutes, so surfing the net is pretty much out of question.

I don't know if the 2 are connected, but it started when my sister came home from travelling and her computer was put on the net again. However, even when her computer is off/her internet is shut off, my internet still doesn't work.

I have a Netgear WGR614 v5 802.11G router

I'll supply you with ipconfig /all, but it's all in Danish, so don't know if it's any help at all.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ipconfig /all

Re: Internet is 'stuttering'

Have you tried connecting directly to the modem to see if that changes the symptoms?

Re: Internet is 'stuttering'

The moden is situated rather inconviently. I've tried moving cables around, but no luck. Will see if I can get my laptop in place, but I fear I need to install the network first.

Anyway, I realised your reply was getting a few days old and thought I'd respond.

In the mean time, any other theories apart from broken modem? Me and my friends thought it was some IP issue, as it's only whenever it's initially connection to some source, but like stated earlier I'm useless at computers.
