Voice Modem

I'm so none tekkie! How would I know if my computer has a voice modem. My computer: Microsoft XP, Has service pak 2

Help would be appreciated! 6/12/08 3:11 p.m.

Look on the back for a phone jack. If you see one, you have one.

Don't confuse a NIC card with a phone jack. A NIC card has an ethernet port which is slightly larger than a phone port.

The picture below shows both ports. The port with the <--> is the ethernet.The port with the picture of a handset to a phone is the phone (modem).


Pictured here is Apple Computer's "airport" wireless base station. It is plugged into a cable mode, DSL modem or other device and then transmits wireless signals to and from your wireless computer.

I'm presuming that she can look at the model number of the modem. Of course, if she doesn't have a modem, then the answer is obvious, no?
