Motorola SB5120 - internet slows if left -why?
I have a relatively new Lenovo desktop. I also have Comcast cable with a Motorola SB5120 modem. Tow problems:
1. A connection to IE may take 2-3 tries to finally connect. 2. The connection has reasonable speed initially. But if you leave and come back several minutes later the connection is real slow (unuseable). Must reboot for an acceptable connection and speed. The cable guy claims it is the computer. Lenovo expects it is the modem or connection. I am tired of paying big bucks for cable speed and getting worse than dial up. Can you help? |

Re: Motorola SB5120 - internet slows if left -why?
biglawyer,
Is the Motorola cable modem directly attached to your PC or are you going through a router? What version of Windows including service pack are you running on your PC? What, if any firewall, internet security or antivirus software are you using (product/version)? In IE, click on Tools, Internet Options, Connections - do you have any dialup or VPN connections listed in this screen. Is it set to "Never dial a connection" or something else? In this same screen, click on LAN settings - is anything checked in this window? Has your Internet always been slow or is this a recent problem? If it's recent, what, if anything including software, hardware, drivers, updates, etc have you installed on our PC prior to having this slowdown? Sorry for all the questions - but we need more info to be able to help you. - John |
