Belkin Pre-N Router

I have a Belkin Pre-N Router, F5d 8230-4, Version 2000 (BEL 21N08) set up on my desktop which runs XP Pro. My wife's desktop gets the wireless signal from the Belkin. Her PC runs Vista Home Edition.

I want to move the router to her PC and get the wireless signal on my PC. We need the router in her office as she needs the additional ports on the router for a video conferencing set up and an ephone.

Will the Belkin work with Vista on her PC?

Do I need new drivers, and if I do, where are downloads offered?

If there is a power problem or some other problem and I have to reset the Belkin on her PC I want to be sure it is easily done, as this will support her business from home.

Thanks,

That Belkin N router will work fine on Vista - no special drivers required as it's simply making a LAN connection to the PC.

Re: Belkin Pre-N Router

Thanks, John. Maybe you can explain to me why embarq has to come out to the house to put a "splitter" on the line in my wife's office here at the house. They tell me that only one outlet in the house can carry the DSL signal. After they are done, I will then rely on the router on my wife's PC.

All I know is that it will cost $115. If I knew how to do it and the stakes were lower (my wife's new business), I'd try myself.

Thanks, again.

Re: Belkin Pre-N Router

Actually, a DSL splitter is the best way to wire a DSL connection. Also, you can never have more than one DSL modem on any single telephone line, if you want two DSL accounts, you need two separate telephone lines to the house/office.

Hi My name is Jenny with Embarq online support team- I saw that you have to have a splitter installed on your phone line for your HSI to work. The cost of this is not $115 however there is a cost of only $25 to have the splitter installed. I am sorry about the confusion in the pricing. The splitter acts a dedicted jack for your HSI and will allow you to be able to connect online and be on the phone at the same time. If you have any other question about the install of a splitter or any other issues please feel free to email me at Embarq_Jenny@Embarq.com

Thanks
