Braodband Refuses to work
I'm on virgin media broadband at the moment and i had the evalution of iolo system mechanic running. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's basically an anti-virus and a firewall. During the evaluation time it was all running fine. When it expired, I un-installed it so I could download and install AVG instead. But since I un-installed system mechanic, I can't access the web anymore. I'm having to use a friend's computer to post this right now. What's happened?

Thanks for the info, but it's still not working, I tried what you suggested, but all I get after I type is "the following command was not found". Am I doing somthing wrong, or is there somthing seriously wrong with my computer? I've included a screenshot of whats going on. I don't really know my way around DOS, so it probably is me doing somthing wrong.

Re: Braodband Refuses to work
That indicates you don't actually have SP2 on the XP machine. In the display, I see you're running 2K on this machine, perhaps that would have been useful information in the first post.

Re: Braodband Refuses to work
try reinstalling iolo system mechanic, then download 'Revo Uninstaller' its a freeware;
uninstall iolo system mechanic with it, see if that cures your problem, when you use the program [or the m/soft] uninstaller a great deal of stuff is left behind and in fact it may not have liked you to uninstall it and left va nasty behind. Al |

Re: Braodband Refuses to work
Ok, I tried lspfix and gues what ... its STILL not working, I ran the program, it found problems, it "fixed" them, I restarted my computer and I still can't get on the web anymore. I dare not run revo uninstaller in case somthing else buggars up. I'm just about ready to trash my computer and get a new one for the web.
This is for anyone thinking about getting Iolo system mechanic/anti-virus/firewall...DON'T GET IT, IT WILL MESS YOUR MACHINE UP! |
