Problem connecting to internet.
I use mozilla firefox and the problems range from working perfectly to pages not loading fully to pages not loading at all and I have to press refresh a ton of times. Sometimes it's like it's just timing out immediately. i'll try and open a link and it might just say "untitled" in the tab or a can't connect page comes up.
When i use cmd ping it says I'm not losing any packets. 0% loss. My two other roommates, one who has the exact same laptop as me, have laptops that connect wirelessly just fine and don't really ever have my problem so I don't think it's the router. Anyone have an idea what's wrong? |

Re: Problem connecting to internet.
lvo55,
What is the make/model of your PC or laptop? What is the make/model of the router? What type of Internet connection do you have (DSL, Cable, etc)? Are you connecting to the router via wired or wireless connection? Do you have any anti-virus/Internet security software installed? If so, what is the software/version? There are a few different things for the problems you describe - DNS issues, physical link or adapter settings, wireless signal problems, etc. If your roomates are using the same router and not having these problems - it might not be an issue with the router. Reply for more information and I can probably help you out. - John |

Re: Problem connecting to internet.
Thanks for helping.
It's a Dell Inspiron e1505. I connect wirelessly, and yes my roommates are connecting wirelessly also and they don't have the problems as I do. I use time warner cable. The anti virus/spyware program I use is trend micro pc-cilliln internet security 14. Let me know if there's anything else I can tell you. thanks again. |

Re: Problem connecting to internet.
lvo55,
After some research, it seems that there are issues with the wireless driver for your Dell model. Dell has updated drivers on their site which you can download and install. Go to: http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=233125 Then click "download now". Save this file to your desktop. Once it's downloaded, launch this and allow it to install the updated Intel Pro Wireless drivers and related software. These new drivers should resolve your connection issues. - John

Re: Problem connecting to internet.
lvo55,
Double-click on the Wireless connection icon in your system tray (lower-right-hand corner of your Windows Screen). From there, click on the Support tab at the top, then click on the "Details" button under Connection Status. Select the Details in this window, click CTRL-C (copy), then past the results in a reply message. Also - do the SAME on one of your working roomate's laptops and post this as well. I'd like to compare the IP settings for BOTH your system and one that is working to see if something's different with yours. - John
