Major DSL slowdown...
Ok, so I have Verizon DSL and I've been paying for a service that allows for a 3MB download. I've always had a bunch of problems with the service, but this particular issue has only started to occur about a month ago. Basically what's been happening is my connection speed would slow down to almost Dial-Up proportions. The latest speed test I ran showed a 276kb/s download and a 685kb/s upload. This is a far cry from what I normally would get. I've run spyware programs, virus programs, I've unplugged my modem for 30 seconds and then replugged it in, I've even reset my modem, but nothing would work. Then, miraculously, my connection would return to normal only to slow down again after a week or two. I have no idea what the problem is.
My modem is a Westell Versalink 327W, if that helps at all. Thanks for any advice that can be given! ~Sam |

Re: Major DSL slowdown...
When it's running slowly, try this on a wired connection. If you have more than one computer, try running the test from each one.
Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here. The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like: If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different! and your IP will be disguised. Copy/paste that link here. Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.
