Hooking up old modem

I got rid of my cable modem because it was way too expensive and signed up with a normal 56K ISP. I plugged my old 56K modem in, but XP didn't auto-detect it when the operating system came up. I tried "install new hardware" and it didn't find it then, either. I didn't know which model to pick from the list when it gave me that option so I picked standard 56K modem, and it still wouldn't work. I don't have the old install disk and I don't remember what the make and model is. It's just a green card. No markings that would identify the manufacturer. Any idea how I can get this thing up and running?

Thanks

Helian

Did you ever have this modem running on XP before?

It may not be on the XP compatability list.

check the MFG for updated drives...although it is not on the combatability list does mean it doesnt work...if they dont have XP drivers try W2K drivers
