Westell 6100 and Linksys router (Not the problem you think)
So I have this westill 6100 with a linksys wrt54g and after a little fiddling around and looking up some directions, I have the internet working on two computers. Yeah! But here's my problem. If I let the connection sit idle for too long (20+ mins) or if I try to log into AOL, the connection is lost on both computers.
Network looks like this. Phone line to westell 6100, then westell via ethernet to linksys wrt54g and then port 1 to ethernet port on computer. The other computer is hooked up with a USB wireless connector. Westell is set to bridged and DCHP is turned off. wrt54g is PPPoE with DCHP turned on. The Linksys has an ip of 192.168.2.1 and the westell used to have 192.168.1.1, but now I can only access the linksys. Linksys is set to keep alinve with redial period of 20 seconds. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Well, I'd up the keep-alive to something like 5 minutes, maybe you're annoying someone with the constant pings.

Re: Westell 6100 and Linksys router (Not the problem you think)
That didn't do anything to help it out. The default was 30 seconds, but I dropped it to 20 to see if it would help. I think max was only like 120.
Any other suggestions? One computer is XP2, the other is vista ultimate. Router is wrt54g and it's a westell 6100. Right now, I took the router out and reset the westell and haven't lost connection in over 24 hours (wasn't paying much attention before that.) |

Did you check in the router to see if there's some option we're missing to keep the connection alive?
