I would like to move my computer up steers and leave everything else in the basement, I have wireless network, what do I need and what do I have to do to move my computer up steers?
Also can I keep my printer in the basement? If so what do I need to do? What do I need to be able to do this? ![]() |

If we knew all of the components in the network, that would help. Obviously, if the printer is not Ethernet connected, you'll need to connect it to a print server or another computer to use it on the network. The location of the wireless router will have a bearing on the issue, and you may have to move it, add hi-gain antennas, or even wire the computer upstairs. This is highly dependent on the exact environment, and since we know nothing about that, it's hard to be more specific.
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please. Make and exact model of the broadband modem. Make and exact model of the router (if a separate unit). Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device. Connection type, wired or wireless. If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2) Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc.
