cant detect wireless internet!

Hi guys.

I have just brought a new laptop.

Advent 9415
  • Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2330
  • (1.60 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB Cache)
  • Windows Vista Home Premium
  • 2 GB Memory
  • 120 GB Hard Drive
  • Wireless Enabled YES

It cannot pick up a signal of any wireless conection even though I have a wireless router set up which has been working for another computer.

Can anyone explain/help?
Do I need any extra software or hardware?

Thanks

Re: cant detect wireless internet!

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Please respond to all the following steps.
  1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.
  2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?
  3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

I'd also like to see this.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: cant detect wireless internet!

If you see no wireless networks, and you're sure you're in range of the router, your wireless adapter may have a problem. Does this machine function with a wired connection?

Re: cant detect wireless internet!

Have you checked in your Bios if the wireless card is activated ?
Have you got a special button or "fn" key to active the wireless card and are you sure that is on ?
