Internet Connection Died

Ok so I have a Linksys WRT54G router and a Sympatico connection. All the plugs and everything is connected properly and the router even says that the its all connected and the internet is working. Then my computer says that it connects and it works. But still for some reason nothing works. Firefox, IE, utorrent, nothing works. It was working perfectly but then I restarted my computer (I didn't make any changes to the internet connection that I remember) and then it stopped working. Does anyone know what my problem could be?

The only reason that this is working right now is because I made a new connection without the router but no one else in my house can go on the internet now.

Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on.

• Turn off everything, the modem, router, computer.
• Connect the modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.
• Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/Network ports.
• Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
• Turn on the router, wait for two minutes.
• Boot the computer.

When the computer is completely booted, let's see this.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Try these simple tests with the router in the picture.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

Do you have a user name/password associated with the account? You may have to configure the router for PPPoE (or PPPoA) and include the name/password in the WAN configuration. I don't know anything about Sympatico, is this DSL or cable? What's the make/model of the modem?

I already did that stuff. I called Linksys support to see if they could do anything different and he took me through a couple of different steps but he still couldn't fix it. The supervisor told me to call Sympatico (its DSL not cable. Speedstream 5200) and ask them to unbridge the connection. I called them and they told me to just reset the modem but it still doesn't work.

My problem (according to the router) is that the "Network didn't assign a network address to the computer" according to my connection. So how would I be able to fix that?

That would be in the WAN configuration section of the router. What does the router's status page look like, post a screen shot. Also, post a screen shot of the WAN configuration page.

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to TSG, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

Everything looks as it should. Let's do a stack repair and see if that changes the issue.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.
