[SOLVED] Help please with NIC card

Hello ,I am having a little trouble installing a new NIC card on my mobo K8NHAGRAND NVIDIA 3250 chip which has an onboard NIC...If anyone has been following my other thread ,basically comcast tech came today and said "everything on their end was fine ,my connection drop was probably due to my NIC card (onboard) and I asked how much were they ,and he he replied ,I can give you one ,so he gave me a new Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC ,and a new ethernet cable as well and a new RCA modem replacing my SB5101 per my request...I asked them ,there were 2 ,if I still dropped connection after installing new card ,what direction I should look ,and one said a psychic,so hopefully this works..
I installed new card and it says low or no connectivity ,shows 30 or 40 packets sent and 0 recieved ,has caution sign on icon ,,it did come with a little 3 wire bundle, red ,green ,black...do I need this?do I need to uninstall old onboard and if I do will it find it again?
I am lost ,Kinda NOOB...to this...

Thanks ,mongoose333

Re: Help please with NIC card

You don't need the extra cable, it's for WOL (Wake On LAN) capability.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

Let's see this too.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Help please with NIC card

If the on-board card is working, why are you installing a new one?

Re: Help please with NIC card

Did you try it in a different slot? How about disabling the on-board NIC in the BIOS too. Maybe your system is having resource conflicts.
