Question DSL Newbie

Hey folks...
I recently moved into a new development in my city and ordered DSL from pacific bell. I was wondering if maybe someone could give me some information on wiring my phone jack? Maybe a good link to someone's how to page? My friends wife offered to do this for me and I will probably let her (she works for a phone company and wired my phone line), but my dsl is activated as of today and well, I am a bit excited to get online again. If you know anything about what wires to hookup at the outside box and to my phone jack let me know...Thanks. :D

Not to sure why you are wiring your box. Usually it should run on the same phone line. You will get a little device that plugs into the phone jack, and then your normal phone plugs into that. Good luck with the DSL. A warning though, you will never want to go back to dial up.

one phone line right?

Alright...I was checking out some do-it-yourself sites and I think I know what you mean. The filter allows all the info to be carried over only the single pair of wires? My friend said that it would require an additional pair of lines...I dont know if this is because she plans on putting in a filter before the line ever gets to the jack or what...Like I said I am new to DSL. But...to be honest I am a bit worried that it will be slower than my old cable connection was, only because when price checking the cable provider had higher guarenteed speeds even during peak hours. However, being a new development it would have been an additional month to wait for cable...so I gave in and ordered the DSL.

First of all...you have a very handy wife...good job:bandit:

And as far a my clients go the phone company brings it inside to a wall jack and then we run the cable from the jack to the router to the server....nothing non computer related to do?? Dont do it yourself the phone company will use that excuse anytime something goes wrong...wait and have it done right
