Need Help

Hey everybody, im new to this site and i have a question.

I don't know if it is because of my Broadband or what but i got high speed internet last week and the day after i got it my white arrow had the hourglass next to it and it wouldnt stop loading, and i asked one of my friends and he said it was because something was loading in the backround and i did a system restore and it went a away but it came back when my computer froze and i had to restart. It's also been running slow while it's been doing this. Anybody know what the problem is?

This screams out that you have no firewall and connected to an always-on connection, big mistake!
