[SOLVED] I cannot connect to my wireless internet

I have netgear wireless network. I was on the internet about a week ago and the connection was lost. I unplugged the connection waited 30 seconds plugged it back in, ping 127.0.0.1 and got a reply, i tried everything i could think of and nothing seemed to work. My computer picks up the wireless network but simply will not connect to it. Please help!

Re: I cannot connect to my wireless internet

also when i ipconfig/all it says my "media state" is disconnected...which is likely the problem. Please tell me how to fix it, and how to prevent this again

Re: I cannot connect to my wireless internet

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model of the router.
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make and model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc.

Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

On any problem computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

I'm using a netgear wireless connection with no encryption using XP-PRO.

I was playing poker on the internet and my connection was lost. Nothing changed or anything, the connection was just lost. When i view my available wireless network connections it picks up the network i'm used to connecting to, but when i try to connect it simply will not. When i try to 'repair' the connection it disables it, enables it, then fails to connect. Here is the ipconfig/all results from a computer using the same wireless connection, but it also connects to the internet through a different, functioning, network.

I'm trying to fix the "Ethernet adapter wireless network connection"

When you search for wireless networks, do you see any?

Re: I cannot connect to my wireless internet

Disable encryption on the wireless router to get it working, then enable it as a separate step.

Re: I cannot connect to my wireless internet

Okay, i clicked start, clicked connect to, right clicked "wireless connection" then clicked properties. I then hit the "wireless networks" tab, scrolled down to my netgear connection and hit properties, and it says my data encryption is already disabled.

Re: I cannot connect to my wireless internet

You need to disable encryption on the router's configuration, not on the computer's network connection.

Re: I cannot connect to my wireless internet

Is that other computer connected to the wireless router in question? You mention "other network". Does this work with a wired connection?

Here's the page for setup guides for your router: http://www.belkin.com/support/downlo...4&lang=1&mode=

Re: I cannot connect to my wireless internet

maybe i'm blind but i can't seem to find this anywhere. On the owner's manual for the router, it says nothing about encryption anywhere. The other computer also cannot connect to the wireless network. The wireless connection has worked for 2 years, and we've never used a cable to connect it to the internet.

Re: I cannot connect to my wireless internet

I looked up that router model, and it's not a wireless router. Perhaps you could tell us the actual modem of the router you have?
