[SOLVED] Problem logging on to Satellite Internet

Hi Everybody, and Happy Holidays!
I got a crazy problem dealing with the satellite internet.
I have a computer that I had built, with a Intel P4 motherboard, and I use the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet adapter for my satellite internet setup. I have Windows XP Home Edition with SP 2 installed.
I am subscribed to Wildblue Satellite Service which I enjoyed using.
I have no router.
Problem:
Whenever I log on to the internet, I would end up getting a screen that states something like "Webpage Not Found". And when I try to go to other sites, I get the same thing. And I sometimes can't get my Email!
I use Windows Internet Exployer 7 and Outlook Express 6.
I managed to download the Winsockxpfix file and ran it.
After I ran the winsockxpfix file and rebooted, I can get on the internet and check my emails with no problems.
Later, tho, when I turn on my computer and try to log on to the internet service, the problems start all over again, and I have to run the fix again to be able to log on.
I have tried the Wildblue Tech Support and we tried everything under the sun to get this problem resolved. No luck.
Here's what so strange, if I click on the Winamp and go to the movies sites, NO PROBLEM!!!
I did have Bitcomet installed and downloaded some files. I am wondering if this torrent had something to do with it. I went ahead and uninstalled it.
I still have Emule but rarely use this PNP site.
Can some of you tell me what I need to do to resolve this problem?
Your help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: Problem logging on to Satellite Internet

It sounds like something is screwing up your WINSOCK LSP stack. Those two P2P applications are prime suspects.

Re: Problem logging on to Satellite Internet

How can I correct this, if this is the case?
I deleted the Lynsys Ethernet card from the Device Manager, Physically removed it, rebooted computer without it, ran the winsockxpfix.exe, turn off the computer, reinstalled the card, and rebooted.
Same problem. I ran the winsockxpfix again and let it reboot my computer, and after the reboot, I can log on to the internet again. I don't know if I later log on to the internet I would get on. I just got online to respond to your answer.

Re: Problem logging on to Satellite Internet

Well, you need to resolve what is corrupting the LSP process chain.

If you're running SP2, you should not use the WINSOCK repair found on the web, but rather the built-in repair in Windows.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.

Re: Problem logging on to Satellite Internet

Ok....
THAT didn't work, Johnwill.
I went and bought another ethernet card since the one that I have been using is at least 6 years old.
After installing it and rebooting the computer, Windows recongized it and installed the necessary drivers.
When I click Internet Exployer a box pop up and said my virus software found a malicious virus and renamed it.
So far I am logging on OK, except I need to redo my Outlook Express. I turned off my computer twice and each time I log on to Internet Exployer, it come up OK.
Thank you for helping me, Johnwill!
