Multiple public addresses?

After 1 hour on the phone and 5 times being transferred with cumcast I give up. I purchased a total of two(2) public dynamic addresses. I have the cable modem going to a vlan on a cisco 2550. From there I have two machines on that vlan. Only one machine at a time will get an address from the ISP. Yes, the modem was rebooted. Now, two public addresses would allow this to work, right?These idiots @ cumcast have done nothing but waste my phone battery.

Are you sure you actually have two public IP addresses available? I'd connect a simple switch to the modem and two computers to the switch. Boot them and see if both get connected. I'm guessing the second one probably won't get an IP address.
