Netgear WGR614 Router Problems

After installing my netgear wgr614v7 router i seem to be experiencing low speeds at night (when my isp allows free downloads from 2 am to 8 am).
could my router be the cause?

I really doubt it. My guess is that you're not the only one that's trying to download at those times, and you're simply competing with everyone else for limited ISP bandwidth.

well during normal days i get 200 kb/sec down even with all those ppl online (at night) and over 500kb/sec down during day. the speeds went down only after i got my dsl modem.

DSL modem? What did you have before? What does this have to do with the router? Have you tried a direct connection to the modem to see if the speeds are better?

Have you made sure that the MTU size in the router is at 1492, which should be correct for DSL?
