Router/Switch help

Hi, I've just started an online CCNA course and my friends have advised me to purchase a used Cisco router to get hands on experience rather than just use the simulation labs. I've just bought a Cisco WS-C2924-xl-en, advertised as a router but when I looked on the Cisco web site for specs I notice it is listed as a swich and not a router. Will I be able to use this to practice setting up or do I need a router? Any help will be gratefully received.

Re: Router/Switch help

Sorry johnwill, after I posted I wasn't sure if I'd put it in the correct forum.
