[SOLVED] Linksys BEFW11S4 having trouble with switch from Covad DSL to AT&T DSL
I have had Covad DSL for a while and my Linksys router had no problem with it. I recently switched to AT&T Yahoo and while I can get connected to the internet going straight from the modem to the PC, when I introduce the router into the loop I can not get connected.
Both Covad and AT&T use PPPoE. Best I can tell, the only change I should need to make is to change the Username/Password. That has not worked for me, 30 minutes with AT&T support wasn't helpful (they finally suggested I pay for Support+), and the Linksys people wouldn't help me unless I pay for extended support. I did try resetting the router, but that didn't work either. Any ideas? I am using Windows XP. Thanks, John |

Did you do a factory reset on the router? That would be holding the reset button for 15 seconds with power on.
When you configure for PPPoE and enter the name/password, what does the WAN status indicate on the router?

Re: Linksys BEFW11S4 having trouble with switch from Covad DSL to AT&T DSL
johnwill,
Thanks for the response. Yup, I did a factory reset. It seems the reset must have worked because it reset the admin password back to the default. As for the WAN status, the Link light is lit, but the Act and Diag lights are not. On the DSL modem, the Internet light is not lit, while it is when I do have connectivity. John |

Have you tried PPPoA just for kicks? Have you talked to AT&T to see if they think this unit is compatible?

Re: Linksys BEFW11S4 having trouble with switch from Covad DSL to AT&T DSL
Well, I've managed to get it set up with some help from AT&T second line support. I had to go into the modem and set it up as a bridge modem, then go into the router and set it up.
Thanks johnwill for your input. John |

That was going to be my next suggestion, but I always wait since it's somewhat complicated at times.
![]() Glad you got it going.

Re: Linksys BEFW11S4 having trouble with switch from Covad DSL to AT&T DSL
Would you be able to share what to do exactly. I'm having the exact same problem and I don't know how to the the bridge modem set up. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: [SOLVED] Linksys BEFW11S4 having trouble with switch from Covad DSL to AT&T DSL
The procedure depends on the exact make/model of the modem/router involved.
