Evil netgear dg834 no browsing help please

hi im trying to connect a netgear dg834 wired router to the net
net works fine on speedtouch modem
1 routers installed ok all lights are on net & port
2 i try to coonect using netgears cd but it wont acess there page to configure the router nothing at all 192.168.0.1 0r its 1.1
3 have looked at there manual but its bit confusing i am newbie to router/modems it was recomended to me becos my pipex is disconecting regularly im om adsl max
4 i looked on the net at loads pages but what i need is a simple walk through on how to connect router/modem manualy i am not sure where or what to type in browser settings ect
4 in my conectiuons router shows ok and the same for the internet says its conected so i dont know why it cany acess & browse
i need to get to routers page to cofigure it
can any body help please
i know my way round a pc just networking is new to me
