web access blocked
Greetings. I have a new Netcore 2005NR boradband router. It mostly works. The issue I'm having is that web access is blocked. I can ping a web address, but when I use a browser, the browser says web site found - connecting, and that's it. Eventually it just fails to connect.
I have tried opening ports, I have tried resetting to defaults. The firewall is disabled. Widoze firewall is disabled. I have no other firewall. I have tired everything I know what to do. What's left? Any help on this issue would be very much appreciated. |

Re: web access blocked
Try connecting directly to the modem and see if it's still an issue. This will eliminate the new modem as the issue.

Re: web access blocked
Done that. It's the router. The long storey is this: I'm working for a company that provided me with an IP phone. I was using a Hawkings Wireless router and everything was working except that I was only able to talk for 30 seconds on the IP phone before getting cut off. So I did a throughput test and found that the router was slowing my connection down a lot. So I got a Dlink DI 514 wireless router. It blocked audio on the phone. I spent time with IP phone support, and with router support - opened all appropriate ports etc, and never got it working. So I tried to get a simple non-wireless router. The Netcore 2005NR. Using that unit I can get IP phone great, email, but it blocks web access. It's the router doing it, but everything is turned off on the router, no firewall etc.
So - I have not been able to get everything working at once - throughput, email, web access and IP phone. I am currently straight into DSL modem and all works fine. No port for the IP phone of course. |

Re: web access blocked
Is this some sort of corporate network?
If you can connect directly to a modem, and the router is blocking web access, it's broken.

Re: web access blocked
I've never seen that phone in a residential environment.
![]() Let us know if a new router sorts it out. Just to check, you DID reset that router to factory defaults at some point, right? If not, that's clearly something to try.

Re: web access blocked
Ya, I set the router to factory defaults numerous times. I tried everything reasonable. It should just work, and it does not.
Thanks for all the help. I'll let you know as soon as I get the router replaced how it all works out. |
