[SOLVED] Bonehead question on a startup application

I want my broadband to start up automatically when the computer is turned on. I remember that there is a startup window or something like that and if you put an icon in that folder it will automatically start up. I am using xp pro. Can someone help me find it?

Hello pengyou, Welcome to TSF!

Usually with most Broadband Internet connections, they are in an "always on" type connection, and you do not have to 'prompt it to start as you would with a dial-up connection.

Perhaps you could please explain in a little more detail what you are trying to achieve here.

I will also transfer this thread to our Networking Support Forum, in Modems/Cable/DSL/Satellite where the Networking Team will probably give you some further pointers too.

Yes, in the U.S. that is true - most broadband connections are established at pc startup. In China, however, there is an icon on the desktop that I have to double click to get it going. I want to be able to have the adsl engage on pc startup so it is good to go.

I vaguely remember hearing of a folder - the startup folder - and anything put in that folder would be automatically started up when the computer started.

As I live in Australia, I'm afraid that I cannot help you with this, as all our broadband connections automatically start when the computer is powered up, as I mentioned in my previous post.
One other suggestion I can offer though, is that you contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and ask them if they have this program available for you.

Having said that, one of the Networking Team will soon have a look at your issue, and they may have an answer for you.

Right click on the Start button and select Explore All Users. Under the Start Menu, expand Programs, then expand Startup. Drag the icon into that folder.
