Download and Uploading Issues
So about two nights ago, for reasons I'm unaware of my downloading and uploading speeds have dropped to almost a crawl. This also includes web pages that normally load in an instant, taking several minutes to load or not at all. At first I thought it was my computer so I did the usual Anti-Spyware/Adware/Virus stuff and cleared a few things off, but nothing out of the ordinary. When this didn't work, I ran test to test my speeds and they're hovering at around 5 kps to 20 kps.
And like I said before. This just started to occur two nights ago, and quite randomly. So I'm a bit baffled by it. Additional Information: ISP is Roadrunner Browser is Firefox version 2.whatever(latest version) Sony Vaio Laptop with Windows XP It get used for just about everything as well. School, work, gaming, and media storage. If you need any other information, let me know! :) |

Re: Download and Uploading Issues
Well, we can stop looking at the HJT log, you have MAJOR line quality issues!
![]() ![]() ![]() Time for a call to your ISP, and you might print out those reports for the tech when they arrive. ![]()

Re: Download and Uploading Issues
Well, call placed, and they just left. They replaced the modem, and redid all the connections at the pole and house. While it fixed the line issue, it didn't fix the speed issue at all. Which made them say it's probably something to do with my computer.
I've run Kaspersky, Nod32 and Spybot S&D so if it's virus or trojan related it's beyond me. The help has been very much appreciated. |

Re: Download and Uploading Issues
Let's see another line quality test run after their "fix".

That's the latest one. He actually used the site to run a couple speed tests, which all came out great, but the tests don't match the actual performance. And since this is the 4th day I haven't been able to work (Game Programmer) it's getting to be more than an inconvenience. |

Re: Download and Uploading Issues
Still looks pretty ugly to me! I'd start shopping for a different ISP if they can't get their act together!

Re: Download and Uploading Issues
Ah really? Unfortunately a new ISP is out of the question, since most others don't even exist out here! I live out in the woods, so I'm lucky if I can get the damn garbage guy out here, let alone anything else!
Ah well, it's not shocking if that's the problem. Thanks for all the help! |
