Always disconnecting

Hi. I hope someone can help me. I have a new dell inspiron 1520 with Vista that I connect wirelessly through a westell modem. I have been having a problem with getting disconnected at least once or twice a day. I then try to reconnect and cannot. I then hook up my ethernet cable from my comp to my modem which connects me and then I unplug the ethernet cable and I have wireless again.

Does this make sense to anyone? Because it sure doesn't to me.

I'd start with an update of the firmware for the Westell router, Vista is somewhat picky about older firmware on many routers.

I had previously gone to the westell website but was unable to find any updates there???

Have you also checked to see if you're using the latest wireless drivers for Vista?
