cant conect to internet

the computer is emachines model W3507
it has a 56K ITU v.92-ready Fax/Modem

My friends computer had a major problem and i had to completley wipe the system and restore. the problem is that it cant find the modem and my friend cant find a disk for reinstalation of the driver or software need help please if anyone can help

If the modem came with the computer go to

http://www.e4me.com/support/

then product support and download and select the info for that computer and download the driver that they have for the modem.

If the modem was purchased separate from the computer then you can google the company that made the modem and usually click on support and download driver and it should be there

I tried that and they didn't have any downloadable updates for that most was for Vista.
do you have any other sugestions for me to try

The modem is listed in device manager as a 56K ITU v.92-ready Fax/Modem ?

the modem isn't even listed anymore it says to reintall it that it cant find it. And my friend cant find his driver disk all he has now is his Windows reinstallation disk and he wiped the system (the destructive one and reinstalled windows xp media center so now it cant find the modem and it is now it cant play sound either. on the device manager it has a ! by the sound devices but not even a modem listing anymore just the ethernet option, but be4 he started messing with it, the computer connected fine to the internet fine with dial-up. sorry to wright so much just trying to give as much info. as possible. so let me know something to try next.

Well i think now you can go back to the site i listed before and look for the driver since if i am correct you just mentioned that Windows XP media center was installed on it now.

Has this computer ever been opened up? If not i would try to just install the modem driver and see what it comes up with.

If the case was open, just turn the computer off and take out the modem and put it back in, preferable trying a new slot.

And for the sound, look for the driver for that too.
