I just installed a new Best Data Mach 2 56K v.92 modem (A56FW-PCI) and the driver with the disk provided...
It's not working. I get error mesages whenever I try to get out to the internet provider, or view the "More Info" option under the control panel / modem settings. I always get these three consecutive error messages: 1. MTLHAL Hardware does not support modem 2. MTLSTRM Can not load HAL driver 3. MTLMDM Can't open Stream manager It had no problems installing the driver, but when I try to use the modem for anything, it comes up with those three error messages. I tried reinstalling the driver, with no success. The modem is in COM3. I have a Micron 450MHz PC with Win98. Please help. Thanks, Los_Gatos_Al |

Hi,
Go to where merlin suggested and download the newest drivers as he said. Boot up your computer and delete all references in Device Manager to any modem that is listed there. Then, shut down, move the modem to PCI #3 (third slot down from the AGP slot), Then, when it boots up, enter the BIOS setup menu (usually by hitting delete on post) When there, make sure you have PnP Enabled for Win98. Save and Exit and reboot. When is asks for drivers, load the drivers that merlin told you to get . That should make it go. |
