Not connected

Every so often, I get a red light on my broadband router, telling me I'm not connected to the Internet, and I have to re-start the router. Is this a router problem, or could it be a fault with my service provider?

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Make and model of the broadband modem.
Make and model of the router.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)

It could be an issue with the router, the modem, the cable between the router and modem, the cable between the modem and the ISP service entrance, or the ISP.
