help-how to connect a laptop dell inspirion 6000 to my Gateway desktop

I had to bring my office laptop home to work and need to connect to comcast with the modem from desktop--there is no place on modem to plug it in

Hi Ceefare,
If your modem is not wireless (some are) then you will need a router. I would reccomend a wireless router for this if your laptop has a wirless network card. You could also just purchase a hardwired router but then you are restricted by the cable as to how and where to use you laptop.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Make and model of the broadband modem.
Make and model of the router.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make/model of network card or wireless adapter.
Make/model of your computer (motherboard if home-built).
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc.
