Windows startup slowed down after installing broadband

hi,

I use Windows XP SP2.
Before installing the broadband modem Windows XP used to boot very fast ie ~30 seconds.

but after plugging in the broad band modem the boot up time increased to around 2 minutes.

I am 100% sure that there are no malwares in my PC as i had formatted my PC a week back, and i have McAfee and AdAware running on my PC.
Even if i remove all 3rd party apps like antivirus/antispy from the startup, the startup time still remains slow.

Here's the list of my startup apps

This is not causing any problems but i am just curious to know, Is this delay in startup due to the modem setting up a connection?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Windows startup slowed down after installing broadband

Are you using this modem as a USB device? or is it connected straight to your Ethernet Port (some call it just a Network Port) for DHCP (Getting the IP address from your ISP)?

If you are using it through Ethernet, you may wish to get a hardware firewall/router solution . Have that device act between you and your internet connection. This has several advantages, the main one (for you) being a faster DHCP assignment (which will minimize boot time).

If you are using it as a USB device, uninstall the drivers for it, and redo as above...
