wireless problem, kinda

This has got me stumped.

Why would my wireless connection work fine for surfing the net, but not for peer-to-peer (Shareaza) data transfers... but when I connect my computer with a cable from its onboard LAN to one of the 4 ports on my wireless hub, it works just fine?!?

I am using a Netgear wg311 and wrt614 combo, but also can connect the onboard LAN of my shuttle A35N to the wrt614.

I think all the appropriate ports are open - or else the 'wired' P2P connection would not work.

At first, no uploads or downloads can me made - no connections to other peers are seen,.. finally the wrt614 freezes up and needs to be unplugged to be reset..

Help please!

You would need to open the ports for the programs you would like to use.

Shareaza uses port 6346.

Go to http://192.168.0.1 put "admin" as the username and leave password blank.
Under Advanced, click Port Forwarding.
Click Add Custom Service.
Start port: 6346
End port: 6346
Name this entry Shareaza.
Click Apply.

Shouldnt have any problems now.
