please HELP losing my sanity

Ok ill try and keep this as simple as i can.

I dont know a whole about networking.

But ill try my best to describe.

i rencently bought an xbox 360 and realised i would need a router to connect it to the internet.

So i bought a router.

A micradigial 2.4 GHz 54mbps

Adsl modem with Wireless router.

I dont have wireless btw.

Ok so im with tiscali, and i have this shitty PPP USB one slot modem, which takes my phoneline cable and thats it, my only connection is through double clicking a connection which uses this modem.

I bought the router and attached everything as per normal Ethernet From slot on back of my pc to the router and router to power etc.

The Modem/router reads everything as being fine, but the problem i have is i have no idea how to actually get it to connect as my only connection runs through this rancid piece of **** USB modem so all i get is a "No dial tone found " message, i have no idea how to actually connect to the net through this modem, i followed all there instructions on finding a new IP etc and configuring everything but im just totally lost as to how to actually connect the ******* thing to the net.

My connection just now is

Tiscali broadband
Dial Up Connection
Thompson Speedtouch PPP USB ADSL.

Like i said i havent much knowledge of routers and this is doing my head right in.

Ill worry about connecting the xbox once this peice of crap connects.

Please help im losing my mind.

Your problem is that the router is not compatible with a USB only modem.

Take the router back and look into configuring ICS, which is your only option unless you can get a real modem.
