ADSL Max

Hi

I bought a new wireless router today and plugged it in. With my old router I used to get a downstream connection speed of about 4500 kbps. With this one, I get about 3500kbps even after doing a reset.
This is not my download speed as such simply the notional rate that it's connected at.

Have I damaged my rate adaptive line bt trying this router?

Here are my stats

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3360 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 57.0 db 25.0 db
Noise Margin 11.9 db 18.0 db

Re: ADSL Max

The SNR (Noise Margin) is decent, however the line attenuation for your downstream is quite high, which is probably why you are experiencing such loss. Do all your phone lines have filters installed?

I would contact your ISP and let them know. After running a signal test they will probably have some recommendations on how to improve it.

Re: ADSL Max

Thanks for the suggestion. I contacted the ISP who replied that they're not hopeful of making anything better as it seems reasonably fast.

Does anyone know if you can force your line to retrain? Is it worth trying that?

regards

Ed
