Question No Internet

Ok, I'll explain this 1 as fully as I can

I am connected to the net via a LAN

Network Connections show's it as connected to the web

I replaced the wire just to make sure

My flat mate can connect wirelessly with her laptop

I rang the ISP, and after 2hrs on the phone, they concluded it must b somethin' wrong with the comp

Any thoughts??

Re: No Internet

Well, it would help if you actually stated what your problem and symptoms are.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

The name of your ISP and country of residence.
Make/model of the broadband modem.
Make/model of the router (if any).
Connection type, wired, wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.)
Make/model of network card or wireless adapter.
Make/model of your computer (motherboard if home-built).
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc.

Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

Let's also see this for your computer:

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: No Internet

Not sure if this is related, but it did happen to me...

If you're just trying to connect to a site using Firefox, they recently had an update that prevented me from connecting. I worked away on the stupid "problem" without testing any other apps. Finally I tried another browser and it worked...

Also, try to run a ping command in the DOS window, and ping your flatmate or the default gateway, the command would look like this "ping 192.168.1.1" Good luck.
