WiFi Going Bad??
I have wireless internet at my house and my computer will see the network and connect but then it will say it is not connected but I can still access the internet. I can only keep the connection a couple of minutes at the most ten. We have two other laptops there that will connect to the wireless correctly and they do not drop the internet.
At my apartment at school we have a modem where we connect to it through an e-net cable. To get my computer to work I have to reset the modem everytime. My roommates computers work without reseting the modem. Could my WiFi or something be going bad in my computer? If it helps I have a Dell Inspiron 700m. Please let me know if you need anymore information about my computer or connection(s). Thanks Whitnie |

Re: WiFi Going Bad??
Does the behavior still exist if you connect with a CAT5 cable to the router? If so, it's nothing to do with the wireless. In that case, we have a different issue.

Re: WiFi Going Bad??
I am not sure what a CAT5 cable is but with the router at my home we have a desktop attached to the router that does not lose signal. We have decided that the router at school does not work anymore. I am pretty sure it is just the wireless because I am connected to the modem through an E-net cable and haven't lost the connection but I do have to reset the modem everytime I try to connect.

Re: WiFi Going Bad??
Well, if you connect directly to a modem, you must reset (power cycle) whenever the device attached is changed. That's perfectly normal.
As far as the router dying, I suspect that it could be wireless interference also.
