Mistake Apache 56k modem problem

Hello,I've have an apache cyber power v92 ea 56k modem using windows xp,it was working fine, but now i have to unplug the telephone cord and fix it again each time i dial a new connection, before i use to dial without unplugging the cord and fixing it again. When i disconnect it shows that it has disconnected, but the modem did not disconnect i knew that when i plugged my telephone in the modem's phone slot,i lifted the hook and heard the modem is still connected,i tried changing the pci slot,i even installed a freash copy of xp but still the same, why did this happen,by the way i used to have creative modem blaster before the apache and it stopped working suddenly for no reason,i am wondering is it my motherboard that is spoiling the modems (motherboard is asus p4xp-x)

Hi,

I don't have a lot of time this evening, but a try at this quick fix might get it back to working:

Delete all references to your modem in Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager.

Shut Down

Remove your modem and put it in PCI #3 or the third slot from your AGP slot.

Boot up and go into BIOS setup menu

Make sure your PnP operating system option is set to Disabled.

Save and exit the BIOS setup menu.

Reboot and let the computer find your modem.

When it boots up, then force it to load the newest drivers that you have downloaded from your modem manufacturer's website. Don't attempt to use the WinXP drivers that load, even if the computer says they are the best for your Modem. WinXP drivers are only v.90 and are very outdated and will not make your v.92 modem perform properly. When it prompts you and says the drives are not digitally signed, ignore that point to the location of the downloaded driver and force them to load.

This should get you going and have the modem work the way it was built to work.
