[SOLVED] New Wireless Woes
Greetings all,
Recently purchased the Buffalo Wireless AP/Router and I am having a few issues with it. Tech Support-less was their usual surly and unhappy self. Funny; could never get away with treating paying customers when I did it, but that's a whole different rant. Long story short, I can't get to the config screen. My Setup: ATT DSL-->Netopia Router--| |-->AP |-->PC, etc. The AP grabs 192.168.1.26 from the Netopia, I try pinging and get no response, telnet and web produce the same frustrating result. Frustrating to say the least. Anyone have any ideas? Much obliged. Shawn |

Re: New Wireless Woes
Could you give the make and model of your AP?
The AP should come with instructions detailing how to access its user interface for configuration. Could you elaborate as to the inability to access the interface? More information would be helpful. |

Re: New Wireless Woes
Many WAP models require you to connect them independently to a computer to access the initial setup. You need to take a close look at the manual that comes with it.

Re: New Wireless Woes
Yep, I had some D-Link WAP's that I had to do that at a client too. I figured from the way they work that it's probably common. After all, you want them to be transparent when you're actually using them.

Greetings all,
I got in and I must have stumbled across the right combination of steps. FYI, Cellus, The make is a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54. By unable to connect to the interface, it meant that I couldn't access the Menu's via http, ip, or the snazzy management software. One of the steps from tech support was to connect my computer straight into the back, it has four Ethernet and one Wan port (Ethernet) that connects to the cable modem or dsl router. So, I did that. I got the standard MS 169.x.x.x address space and got no where fast. Apparently the AP doesn't run DHCP and dole out IP's. I jumped on my Router and changed my subnet and DHCP config to match the subnet listed in the owners manual of the Buffalo and gave it a whirl. I still couldn't get the AP to come online as a router, but after changing it into bridge mode and rebooting the AP, I was in. It has a great looking interface once you get in and is pretty intuitive, just getting in was a pain. Thanks for all of the responses. I have never been disappointed by this board ever! ![]() Shawn |
