e-mail help..
I am having troubles with my cable modem. WELL not real trouble but when i check my e-mail and want to reply, it will NEVER let me send anything out. AS if its being blocked by somthing. Why can i get mail but never send out. I use the typical yahoo mail and hotmail and it does it for both. I called tech support and no help..AS usual.
They told me that it was on their servers so its not his deal. BUt this only started to happen when i just got my modem. SO whats the deal? any comments? |

Do you use any Virus Email scanning software such as Norton or McAfee?
Also what do you use to check your mail, Outlook, Oe, web based? And lastly :D If you could copy the error message you receive it would be helpful.

e-mail problems
Hi, thanks for helping.
TO start i use web based e-mail such as yahoo mail and hotmail. I do have norton running also, i have i set up to check my e-mail attachments and all that jazz. There isnt a error message at all, its just when i click to send, it just hangs and hangs, and nothign happends. This only happends when i want to sent e-mail only. THe thing that boggles me is that when i just used dial up connection it worked just fine, but i guess that doesnt really matter...any clues???? |

First of all I've been using OutLook Express since it came out and OutLook before that so I don't anything about Yahoo Mail or HotMail.
But in both of the ones I use you have to specify a pop3 server for incoming mail and a SMPT server for outgoing mail. If you don't see a post from one of the Pro's here in a couple of hours then connect to your mail service and look around for some mention of pop3 or smtp servers. Remember I've used on-line mail services so this might be a complete waste of time. twas X( X( X(

It does sound like a server problem on yahoo & hotmail's side, if clearing cookies doesn't help try contacting your email providers and describing the problem. They might have a couple ideas, I'm really not that knowledgeable on web based mail, I use more of the POP3 clients like Outlook and Oe. Just so I'm clear on this you are physically on their websites when you compose and send your message, your not in anyway using 3rd party software like OE right?
