Re: Can't dial out from my new USB modem

Hi Charllo,
Who is your ISP. On a dial up connection you have to go through an ISP that will give you a list of phone numbers to use. Did you install such a program to setup your connection to the internet?
Thanks

Re: Can't dial out from my new USB modem

Hi Bccomp.
well i used the same isp connection as when i was on the island.
now that am in New York, I decided to install into my computer a USB modem.
the reason for this is that the pic modem just keep dropping out.
so yes i do have that program install.
and all i did is to change the numbers.
I even tried the modem in a next computer and can't get it to work.

Re: Can't dial out from my new USB modem

Check what modem your program is using, the USB or the other one.
Can you tell me what program you are using? Also be sure when you connect the phone line to this modem it is connected to the LINE connection on the modem and is directly hooked into the Wall Jack (No other phones or splitters).
This phone line should not be more than 25' long. Are you sure the phone line you are using is good. Try another line and see if you get the same results. The last thing I can suggest is to go to the Control Panel>phones/modem.
Check your location settings. Then go to the modem tab and see if your USB modem is listed. Go to properties and test the modem to see if it responds. If it does past the test then I would say it is a configuration problem with your ISP software.
Thanks

Re: Can't dial out from my new USB modem

BCComp.
got good news for you.
went out and purchase another USB model, installed it and all went well.
so i called the manufactures and they ask me what color disk i got with the modem.
i told them "silver" they said that it was the incorrect drivers.
in 10 minutes they send me (via E-mail)the correct drivers and the modem then work.
thank you BCComp you where correct with your first reply.

Re: Can't dial out from my new USB modem

Charllo,
Glad you got it fixed. Sorry I was not much help (wife's b'day). But it is always good to know that a user is sometimes not the problem. In this case the user knew enough to contact the manufacture and was luckey enough to get a correct response from them.
Great Job
Thanks,
Bill
