Port fowarding over 2 routers
Hey guys I've been trying for days to port forward for my ps3 NAT and have been failing the whole time. I have a linksys BEFSX41 wired router and a zyxel EQ660R ADSL modem that also has a firewall and router built in. I've tried everything from DMZ to UPnP and port forwarding. Mostly I've done it in the linksys router and when i tried doing some of the things in my modem it usually caused some DNS errors and lost me internet connection lol. I was wondering if anyone else has this type of setup and knows how to get around both routers and can tell me specifically what to do so i don't mess up my internet repetitively and reset everything every 5 mins.
I have a menu for modem (192.168.2.1) and the menu for linksys (192.168.1.1) if that helps at all. If you need any other information ask because I don't really know what to do to get around both of these things. I don't know much about networking terms so don't throw around complex solutions without explanation >< thank you in advance |

Re: Port fowarding over 2 routers
If you configure the routers correctly, there'll be no need for double NAT and all the issues it creates.
Connecting two SOHO broadband routers together. Configure the IP address of the secondary router to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address. Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router. Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router. Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!
