portforwarding

i have been trying for several weeks to portforward my belkin f5d9630-4 wireless modem router to use utorrent, i have gone to the routers site and followed the instructions word for word
can anyone suggest a cure. Or can i set up my daughters laptop to run wirelessly without connecting the router to my desktop and go back to a
trusty modem with that
